CONCEPT NOTE FOR THE INTERNATIONAL MOTHERS DAY CELEBRATION 2018 BY AFRICANS AND AFRICAN-EUROPEANS ASSOCIATION
Mother’s Day is an annual event for many people to show their appreciation and recognition towards mothers and mother figures worldwide. For many years families, public institutions, as well as non-governmental organizations, have celebrated Mothers in Finland.
Africans and African-Europeans association, AFAES in Helsinki Finland has for the past years added their voice in celebrating Mothers especially from multicultural backgrounds in the Finnish Society. Through several challenges, they show resilience, commitment and hard work on a responsibility bestowed by nature.
In the last three years, AFAES has taken the step further by organizing an event that brings together mothers from different cultural, professional, racial and political divide.

The International Mother’s Day celebration will be commemorated with a seminar and award ceremony for the Mothers from the different part of the world converging in Helsinki. Recognitions will be bestowed on Mothers who have distinguished themselves in their chosen profession, society and field of operation. The recognition is to serve as motivation for mothers in the world to build a better world for mothers as well as encouraging them to do more. It will be an event of music, dance, speeches, goodwill messages and commendation as to effort made so far on the development of Motherhood.
