Mother’s Day is a day for many people to show their appreciation towards mothers and mother figures worldwide. It is an annual event where mothers all over the world are the center of recognition and appreciation. For many years families, public institutions, as well as non-governmental organizations, have celebrated Mothers in Finland. The occasion avails opportunities for all and sundry to remember the plight of mothers and pledge to improve on the conditions Mothers find themselves around the world.

Africans and African-Europeans association, AFAES ry in Helsinki Finland has for the past years added their voice in celebrating Mothers in Finland especially Mothers from multicultural backgrounds who weather all storms to raise families, support integration and success in the Finnish Society. Through several challenges, they show resilience, commitment, and hard work on a responsibility bestowed by nature.

In the last seven years, AFAES ry has taken the step further by organizing an event that brings together mothers from the different cultural, professional, racial and political divide, all in unison to celebrate the unity in diversity as well as support mothers in their effort to ensure peace and tranquility in families as well as communities.
