Mother’s Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the month of May.
Finland has been adjudged the best place to be a mother, which implies that certain steps and plans have been implemented to safeguard the lives of mothers and children. Over the years these plans have formed models that can be shared with the world as to how to improve the conditions of motherhood. In commemoration of the 2017 Mothers day celebration, AFAES (Africans and African-Europeans Association) plans a seminar to highlight Finland´s success stories, what can be learnt from it, also different perspectives of motherhood challenges from different part of the world facilitating a platform for solutions to be co-created.
